RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and perform hands-on forensic investigations, condition assessments, and construction observations, including documentation of existing conditions, application of nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques, instrumentation, data collection, and sample collection.

Develop and implement specialized field-testing programs to evaluate the performance of structures and materials.

Analyze field data, conduct research, and contribute to problem-solving strategies.

Review construction documents, material specifications, codes, and standards to facilitate evaluation and repair recommendations.

Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and structural analysis software across concrete, steel, composites, and other materials.

Prepare reports, conceptual sketches, and construction documents for clients with a focus on clear communication and actionable recommendations.

Collaborate with project teams, laboratory partners, clients, contractors, and other disciplines to drive results.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Master’s degree or higher in civil, structural, or materials engineering.

Entry-level to up to five years of experience in concrete materials evaluation, structural analysis, and/or nondestructive testing (NDT).

Solid foundation in structural engineering principles and an interest in the performance and rehabilitation of modern and historic structures.

Strong technical writing, presentation, and graphical communication skills.

Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take ownership, tackle challenges head-on, and continually learn.

Proficiency in structural analysis software, AutoCAD, MathCAD, and MATLAB preferred.
REQUIREMENTS

Willingness to travel regionally and nationally for field work and client meetings.

Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various outdoor conditions.

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
-
Medically fit for use of respiratory protection and PPE.

Verification of employment eligibility for work in the U.S.; willingness to travel internationally as needed.
LOCATION
This position is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where our team collaborates and serves clients in the region and beyond. While a Grand Rapids location is preferred, we are open to flexible arrangements for the right candidate.
